Jefferson Street Baptist Church
JSBC is a Southern Baptist Church with local autonomy. We are a part of the Southeast Kansas Baptist Association (SEKBA) and the Kansas Nebraska Convention of Southern Baptists (KNCSB).
Our main identity is that of Christian. We come from many different backgrounds: Baptist, Nazarene, Wesleyan, Methodist, Catholic, Assembly, and Lutheran... just to name a few.
What we believe is that the Bible is the true Word of God. Our sin separates us from a right relationship with God, but God sent His Son, Jesus Christ so that through Him and only Him can we be restored. Christ paid the price for our sins when He died on the cross, conquered death when He rose from the grave, and He ascended into heaven where He is preparing a place for all brothers and sisters in Christ.
Pastor
Pastor John Craighead has been the Senior Pastor at Jefferson Street Baptist Church since March of 2013. Previously he spent over 20 years as student and associate pastor at various churches. Pastor John is a Chaplain for the KNCSB Disaster Relief, and a Chaplain and Reserve Deputy for the Greenwood County Sheriff's Department. He attended the Midwestern Baptist Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri.
Pastor John has been married to his bride JoAnn since 1987. JoAnn is a Title 1 para-professional for Flinthills School District. She is the Children's Ministry Director at Jefferson Street Baptist. She has been sending out a devotional, "Verse of the Day" for several years and is reaching an audience in the thousands.
Their daughter Jennifer is married to her husband Brian Funk who is serving in the Coast Guard. They live in Portsmouth, Virginia with their daughter Leah and son Axel.
Their son Jeremiah and his wife Meghan both graduated from Hannibal La Grange University. They live in Hannibal, Missouri with their sons Griffith and Victor.
